Notes from Pastors

May the transcendent tenderness of this book lift your gaze beyond and help you consider the Father of lights from whom every good and perfect gift comes to us. Each day wraps us in His love; each moment is from His faithful hand. As you ponder His kind provision and abundant mercy may He fill your heart and mind with sincere adoration and worship. He is worthy.

With each painted sky and starry night and summer breeze we are reminded that this is His story. Our deepest joy is found as we delight in His glory.

Without sound or voice the heav’ns shout their Maker’s glory.
In unison they declare, “This is His story.”
The heart of man was made for the joy He brings.
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.

On “I Know God Hears Me”

In Genesis 16, God reveals himself to a lowly runaway servant girl as the God who hears and sees. The Lord hears Hagar in her distress and looks upon her in mercy. Hagar comes to know of a God who hears the cry of the outcast, and looks upon those to whom he has promised good. Hagar would be commanded by God to name the child to be born to her Ishmael (which in Hebrew means God hears) so that she would never forget the God who hears.

Those who have drawn near to God through His beloved Son Jesus Christ have the wonderful privilege of being able to speak with this God who hears. By His shed blood, Jesus has opened a way for us to enter into the throne room of God in heaven with our requests (Hebrews 10:19-22). We can have the confidence that when we seek Him with all our heart, He will hear us (Jeremiah 29:11-13). We know that when we come to Him in all humility, ready to submit our way to His will, that he will hear us (1 John 5:14-15). We have the joy of knowing that our Father who is in heaven will answer us if we seek what is good through Him (Matthew 7:7-11).

Chris Danielewicz is a dear friend and sister in Christ. She is a faithful servant of her Savior, having a passionate desire that all might know the blessedness of a relationship with the living God. In simple poetic form, she brings forth the wonderful hope that belongs to all who call upon the name of the Lord in faith – He hears!

May you be blessed by this book, but even more, may you know the blessing of a God who hears.
